Out Books and Other Items
Students may check out up to seven books for three weeks.
To borrow books, you must have your Mt. SAC student ID with
a current semester sticker.
- Use
Study Rooms
Two or more Mt. SAC students with a current semester sticker
may check out a key to use a study room for two hours.
No reservations - rooms are given to whomever shows up first!
- Get
an IEALC library card
IEALC cards allow Mt. SAC students
to use other libraries. A complete listing of the nineteen
participating libraries is available.
You must provide your Mt. SAC student ID with a current semester
sticker and a current printout of your
class schedule.
- Pay
Fines
The library charges $0.25 per day for overdue materials. Fines
for videos are $1.00 per day and fines on reserve books are
$1.00 per hour.
Pay fines promptly - otherwise you cannot register for classes!
- Return
Books
Return books to two book drops - the front wall next to the
Library entrance and the information booth of Pay Lot B (near
Grand Avenue). NOTE: These are OPEN even on holidays!

Library Orientations
Instructors may schedule research instruction
and library orientation sessions.
Please contact the library at least two weeks before the desired
date!

Videos
Most videos are library use only.
Distance learning and some math videos may be checked out
by Mt. SAC students with the current semester sticker.
- Reserve
Equipment (Instructors Only)
Instructors may reserve equipment, such as laptop computers
and projectors, for use in the classroom.

Periodical Literature in Print and Online
The library subscribes to newspapers, magazines, and journals.
In the Periodicals Room, you will find periodicals in print
and on microfilm.
You may also use computers in the Periodicals Room to search
for articles in the full text article
databases. (Remember that these computers are for research
only!)

Copies
All periodicals must stay in the Periodicals Room.
Photocopy machines and printers are available to copy/print
articles.
It costs $0.08 to photocopy/print one page if using a print
card; $0.10 per page if using cash.
It costs $0.20 to print from a microfilm machine if using
a print card; $0.25 per page if using cash.

the Information Desk
The Information Desk is staffed all of the hours that the
library is open.
Librarians and library assistants will help students, staff,
and faculty with research needs via the library
catalog, article databases,
and the Internet.

Copies
The Copier Room is found near the Information Desk
It costs $0.08 to photocopy one page if using a print card;
$0.10 per page if using cash.
Copy cards are available for purchase in the Copier Room.

Computer Printouts
Computer printers are available at the Information Desk.
You must purchase a copy card in order to print from the computers.
Copies are $0.08 per page.
Purchase copy cards in the Copier Room. The cost is $1.00
and there is a one-time fee of $0.50 for this card. (You will
have $0.50 worth of copies.) When needed, you may add more
value to your card for no additional fee at the boxes in front of each of the copy machines in room 223. Ask at the Information/Reference Desk if you need assistance or have questions.

Check out articles and books that professors have required
for courses.
You may use Reserve materials for two hours in the library
only. (There is a fine of $1.00 per hour if Reserve materials
are returned late!)

Read and send email at the computers near the Reserves Desk.
Students are asked to limit their session to twenty minutes
only.
