Information for Federal Work Study Employers

With federal funding available, now is the time to provide students with opportunities related to their individual professional development. Many students will be eager to get involved with the workforce. In order to accommodate the employment needs of scholars, we are looking to assist them with gaining access to a positive work environment.

Mt. San Antonio College has a variety of Work-Study programs for qualified students including:
  • Federal Work-Study
  • CalWORKs Work-Study

Eligible Employers

Employers interested in hiring FWS students must be either:
  • Full Time Staff
  • Faculty (excluding adjuncts)

About Employer Orientation

The following information will be discussed during orientation along with associated handouts that will be provided via email:
  • Differences between the various work study programs
  • Program protocols and payroll
  • Pay rates and types of jobs
  • Supervisor expectations
  • Student worker expectations and guidelines
  • Procedure for posting and re-posting jobs including hands-on training
  • Posting and hiring tutorial handout

How much can students earn?

Position Hourly Wage Estimated Hours Per Week
Student Assistant I $15.00/hr Estimated 12.5 hrs./week (20 hrs/week maximum)
Student Assistant II $15.25/hr Estimated 12 hrs./week (2o hrs/week maximum)
Student Assistant III $15.50/hr Estimated 12 hrs./week (20 hrs/week maximum)
Student Assistant IV $15.75/hr Estimated 11.5 hrs./week (20 hrs/week maximum)
Student Assistant V $16.00/hr Estimated 11.5 hrs./week (20 hrs/week maximum)
