Course Objectives:
  • Students successfully completing the course will be able to identify issues of culture identity, ethnic background, age, and gender, in prevention, treatment, and recovery
  • Students successfully completing AD 3 will be able to explain the relapse prevention process
  • Students successfully completing the course will be able to describe and apply theories and strategies for the prevention of substance use disorders.
  • At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to compare and contrast historical and contemporary prevention, intervention, and treatment approaches
  • Students successfully completing the course will be able to describe medical and behavioral models of addiction treatment. (MO)
  • Students successfully completing the course will be able to analyze the effectiveness of major treatment modalities and support systems in recovery. (MO)
